Tyler Fettrow

Bio

Tyler joined NASA in January 2022 as an aerospace researcher, specifically in human-machine systems. Tyler trained in neuromechanics (the study of how the brain receives sensory information and produces movement). He received his Ph.D. from University of Delaware, where he investigated the neural control of sensory integration and control of balance during locomotion. He then completed a postdoctoral fellowship at University of Florida learning various neuroimaging and neuromodulation techniques. Tyler has acquired a broad skillset, including an extensive knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, designing of human experiments, and non-invasive biometric data acquisition and analysis, among others.

Tyler has worked with the National Campaign: Integration of Automated Systems and System Wide Safety: Human Contributions to Safety teams to quantify the human’s role in highly automated systems, as well as traditional commercial flight. Tyler is currently working with Pathfinding for Airspace with Autonomous Vehicles (PAAV) sub-project to ensure a seamless integration of unmanned aerial systems into the National Airspace.
